Hi

We are currently looking at Visual Studio 2010 as a replacement to CodeCharge Studio.

We are not necessarily MS fans but one thing that is generally true, MS tools and software are mostly Industrial Stength and robust enough not to exhibit the sort of problems we have been ecountering using CodeCharge Studio.

We also are considering implementing a product called VS.PHP as a plug-in to Visual Studio 2010 and 08 to support any PHP applications we will be deveveloping or maintaining.

We have just started this project of evaluating a replacement to CodeCharge Studio so we will update this post with any salient information as we discover it.

Have Fun.

I've moved on to CodeIgniter. Better community support and better architecture.

I am using ScriptCase V5 , which is working out quite well. I've only been using for about 6 weeks, but I'm pretty happy with it. Also tried Morfik which looks more modern, but had some trouble in getting my application to run on my server. It may have been me, so I will go back and try it again later.

So far, I can understand how scriptcase works much better than I was CodeCharge. My website is in early Beta, so I have a lot to clean up, but I have been able to get the functionality that I needed, which is more than I was able to do when I tried CodeCharge.

Hello,

For us is very difficult replace CCS because our web application is big and also is made in ASP. So our alternatives are migrate from both, CCS and ASP. The answer was NOT. But we star many changes:

1) Replace CCS-Ajax with many components in the market (there is another world)

2) Replace CCS-Graph with a pretty solution in JavaScript

3) Now we are in a third phase replacement all CCS-Reports. Also we will work with jQuery-Grids (they are infinity rich than CCS)

4) Finally we only use CCS to create forms.

I think the era CCS is death, Yes Software have years with nothing good to compete with another soft I think they will not continuing with CCS, time to time.

Bye and good programing!

Interesting post. May I ask which reporting alternatives you have found that can replace CCS reports?

At this moment we are starting our report substitute phase. So, we already not take any decision, but these are the final programs we are considering:

http://www.hkvstore.com/aspreportmaker/default.asp
http://aspwebsolution.com/products/report_wizard/
http://www.dbxtra.com/
http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/reporting-dashboarding/reporting/developeradvantage/index.epx

Adios!!!

In discussing alternative component usage in CCS, another component a little weak is Captcha.

There are many captcha products both free and at cost that work infintely better than CodeCharge Studio Captcha. They are, for the most part, very easy to integrate into CodeCharge Studio.

We have never used the CodeCharge Studio implementation of Captcha.

I do not often use Captcha, so my knowledge is limited in this area. What is the problem with the Captcha-component in CodeCharge?

I do not think it is fair of you to call the Captcha component in CCS "a little weak", without backing it up with some arguments.

Hi Rick & John

I am using VS 2010 and still find some BUG's with the MS software studio 2010 - Yes if you look at industrial strenght development then VS 2010 would be a better solution. Code Charge studio 4.3 is still a great help to most non and advance programmers.

Gerard,
Since VS2010 has not been released yet, that wouldn't totally surprise me. I too have decided to delve into VS2010 to see what I can do.
